Editorial disclaimer

Last updated: 12 June 2026.

opcionrural.com publishes plain-English smartphone guides for older adults. The information on this Site is offered in good faith, written by experienced editors, and re-verified twice a year. Even so, you should read this disclaimer before relying on any guide.

1. General-information disclaimer

The guides published on this Site are educational in nature and intended for a general audience. They are not personalised advice. Phone models, operating-system versions, regional features, carrier configurations, and accessibility options vary widely, and the exact menu wording on your phone may differ from the steps we describe. If a step does not match what you see, write to hello@opcionrural.com and we will help you find the right path.

2. Not professional advice

Guides on health-related apps, telemedicine, accessibility settings, online banking, fraud prevention, and emergency features are written for consumer understanding. They are not a substitute for advice from a qualified accessibility specialist, occupational therapist, audiologist, ophthalmologist, doctor, nurse, banker, fraud-prevention officer, or attorney. Always seek the advice of a qualified professional for questions about your individual situation.

3. Try non-critical changes first

Before applying a setting change to a phone you rely on for emergencies, medication reminders, or daily care, we recommend trying the change on a borrowed device or asking a trusted family member or friend to be present while you do it. This is especially important for changes that affect the lock screen, the SIM card, biometric authentication, two-factor authentication, or backup configuration.

4. Third-party trademarks

"iPhone", "iPad", "iOS", "Siri", "FaceTime", and "Apple" are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the US and other countries. "Android", "Google Maps", "Google Assistant", "Pixel", and "Google" are trademarks of Google LLC. "Samsung" and "Galaxy" are trademarks of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. "WhatsApp" is a trademark of Meta Platforms, Inc. All other product names, logos, and brands are property of their respective owners. Use of these names is for descriptive purposes only and does not imply endorsement.

5. Independence and editorial integrity

opcionrural.com is independently owned. We are not affiliated with any phone manufacturer, telecom carrier, app publisher, or senior-services organisation. We do not accept free review units in exchange for coverage, and our editorial decisions are kept separate from advertising decisions.

6. Affiliate and advertising disclosure

The Site is funded by display advertising delivered by Google AdSense. We may also include links to product pages on retailer sites; where such links exist they will be marked clearly. We do not embed affiliate links inside step-by-step instructions, and we never recommend a product because an affiliate paid us. See our privacy policy and cookie policy for details on advertising.

7. Accuracy and corrections

We re-verify every guide twice a year against current iOS and Android releases and stamp the verification date at the bottom of the article. When a reader tells us a step has changed, we update the article and add a dated note describing what we corrected. We never silently rewrite history.

8. External links

We link to third-party websites — manufacturer support pages, government consumer-protection resources, public-library tech sessions, and so on — for the convenience of readers. We do not control these sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, or privacy practices. Inclusion of a link is not an endorsement.

9. No warranties

The information on the Site is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Your use of the Site is at your own risk.

10. Limitation of liability

opcionrural.com Editorial, its founders, employees, and contributors are not liable for any loss or damage — direct or indirect — that arises out of using or relying on any guide on this Site. If a step in a guide does not work for you, the appropriate response is to contact us so we can update it.

11. Contact for corrections

Send corrections and accuracy concerns to hello@opcionrural.com. We respond within two business days.
